Jack D. McGuff III, JD, CPA, CFP®, MBA
Jack D. McGuff, III, was the founder of McGuff Financial. He served families, professionals, and business owners for over three decades, working as a financial advisor, attorney, and CPA. His experience in the industry was diverse: he specialized in financial planning, investment management, and tax planning, and assisted clients with multiple elements of their financial lives, connecting those elements through cohesive strategies.
Prior to joining the financial services industry, Jack built a career in the accounting industry, working with international firms Ernst & Young and Grant Thornton. His in-depth knowledge of taxes and accounting enabled Jack to integrate tax-efficient strategies into his clients’ financial plans, while his legal background—with concentrated experience in asset protection and will and trust drafting—added another dimension to his estate planning services.
A proponent of continued education, Jack had an extensive educational background. In addition to his FINRA Series securities registrations with LPL Financial, he was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), earning this title in 1986. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and his Master of Business Administration in Taxation and Finance from the University of Houston. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. Finally, in 2004, Jack became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional through the CFP program at Rice University.
Jack was actively involved in his professional industries. He was a member of the Financial Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as a member of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law section of the State Bar of Texas.
Jack was a long-time resident of Pearland, Texas, and enjoyed giving back to his community. He served as an executive board member of the Pearland Area Chamber of Commerce; President of the Pearland Rotary Club; President of the Board of Directors of the Coppinger YMCA; Director of the Pearland Arts League; and Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Golfcrest Country Club. He was married to his wife, Lyn, for almost 36 years and was a dedicated father to their two children.
